God bless you Steve. We had the privilege of knowing you for only a few years but what a wonderful man you were. Kind and considerate always. May you rest in peace. Heaven has taken a good one from us.

Steve was lucky enough to meet our mum Heather, when James and I were 12 and 15, yet he still stuck around! He took 2 stroppy teenagers in his stride and we became the blended dysfunctional family we continued to be nearly 25 years later, with 4 children, partners, 5 grandchildren and we can’t forget the dogs- Lola, Amber and Bindi! I have so many memories of Steve, all full of laughter, kindness, generosity, but mainly the laughter. The amount of times I would ring mum up and hear Steve laughing in the background at something he was watching on TV is too many times to mention, but I would give anything to hear it once more. He was such a kind, humorous and fair person. He treated James and I like his own, as infuriating as we were! We had some fabulous family holidays together- in the years before sat navs, Steve navigating and mum driving, the best stress free way to set up a week abroad with 4 teenagers! Steve was the best role model for managing finances, which, unfortunately for Ben, I have not learned from. I remember when he and mum first started living together she soon got him off the branded foods and on to the cheap stuff- probably much to Tom and Kimberly’s annoyance! He was the best grandad my children-Phoebe, Henry and Alex could have hoped for. Very involved and hands on, though I am not sure if he ever changed a dirty nappy of any of his 5 grandchildren! He was a constant in their lives and I feel sad for them that they didn’t have more time with him, but am grateful that the time they did have was filled with lots of love, guidance, laughter and experiences that they will never, ever forget. Steve may not be here anymore to provide laughter with him, and at his expense when he inadvertently gave himself the most ridiculous injuries known to human kind. However, his legacy, as a kind, generous, loyal, and fair man will live on in all our own memories of Steve, and how he has influenced and touched the lives of everyone here and those who can’t be here. Steve, from those 2 annoying weird teenagers you had the pleasure of raising, to the 2 equally annoying and weird adults you had the pleasure of still seeing regularly, thank you. Thank you for being you.

Loved our many meals out with you and Heather, sitting in your garden watching the birds, chatting about the cricket and football (usually Forest and Leeds not being very good, with the occasional highlight being celebrated i.e. our promotions to the premier league, Forest's European cups, Liverpool's, many and Leeds's lack of. 😂) The occasional walks with the dogs. Just great company to be with and will be sadly missed.
